Registration is open now for a four-session Intro to Weaving course, at Catamount Arts, for adults and high school students. Class will take place Saturdays and Sundays, September 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th, from 1-5pm.
Instructor Emma Gerry will introduce participants to weaving techniques on various looms (floor, inkle, and tapestry) and help students plan projects to weave including scarves, bands, and tapestries. Over four sessions, students will learn basic weaving terminology, how to throw a shuttle, advance a loom, warp a project, and finish webbing off the loom. Students must bring a notebook and pencil for planning warps.
The fee for Intro to Weaving with Emma Gerry is $160. Catamount Arts members and high school students get a 10% discount. Materials are included. To inquire about financial assistance, call Anne Campbell at 802-748-2600, extension 109.
Emma Gerry, of Littleton, NH, learned to weave in 2020, and then went on to work for Thistle Hill Weavers and Eaton Hill Textiles, among others. She loves fabric and thread in all forms and delights in recreating historic trims and fringes in new and colorful ways. Emma teaches weaving to share her love of this historic craf.
Class size is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Learn more or sign up at catamountarts.org or by calling 802-748-2600.
