Upstream Classical, in partnership with Catamount Arts, opens their inaugural season Friday, October 23rd, at York Street Meeting House with a concert featuring Scott Pool and EK Duo, at 7pm. Bassoonist Scott Pool, of Corpus Christi, Texas, will perform with EK Duo, a creative project by longtime Clogs bandmates Rachel Elliot, a bassoonist from Lyndonville, and Thomas Kozumplik, a Brooklyn-based percussionist.

Two bassoons and percussion may seem like an unlikely combo, but this unusual collaboration began when EK Duo was touring several years ago throughout Texas and Louisiana. Scott Pool joined EK Duo onstage during a performance at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, where Dr. Pool is a faculty member, and played with such flair and enthusiasm that future collaboration seemed inevitable.

Scott, who is Academy Director of the Talis Music Festival & Academy in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and who has appeared throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia, also has a career goal of performing in all fifty U.S. states. The October 23 concert in Lyndon marks his first time performing in Vermont and will mark #40 in his quest.Join Upright Classical for this dynamic and eclectic program of classical & new music for solo bassoon, two bassoons, and two bassoons plus percussion.
