Artist Nico Lima will teach a low-tech drop-in printmaking workshop for adults and teenagers on two dates, Tuesday, November 10th, and Monday, November 30th, from 3-6pm, at the St. Johnsbury Community HUB, 105 Eastern Avenue (behind Catamount Arts).
Community members are invited to drop in and stay as long as they’d like for either or both of these fun and accessible printmaking workshops. Participants will learn the basics of mono-printing in a low-tech experimental format, producing one-of-a-kind images by ink transfer, which blends elements of drawing, painting, and printmaking.
The workshop promises to be a great introduction for anyone interested in exploring printmaking without investing in the specialty tools used in traditional printmaking techniques. Materials will include common household packaging such as plastic bags, cereal boxes, Styrofoam trays, sticks, office paper, and ballpoint pens.
This workshop is offered free of charge thanks in part to an Arts and Social Cohesion grant from the Vermont Community Foundation.
Instructor Nico Lima lives and works in Lyndonville. His practice includes painting, printmaking, and installation using post-consumer materials. His work investigates regional cuisine, terroir, agricultural infrastructure and mythologies. Nico earned a BFA from UMass Dartmouth and an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. He teaches painting at the Community College of Vermont and exhibits throughout the Northeast.
The St. Johnsbury HUB is located at 105 Eastern Avenue on the Catamount Arts creative campus. Enter the Catmount Arts parking lot, and find the HUB in the blue octagon-shaped carriage house building straight ahead.
