Decades after publishing a poetry collection that went unnoticed, New York postal worker Ed Saxberger is startled when a devoted young admirer arrives at his door and welcomes him into a circle of downtown bohemians. Swept up by their praise and drawn to the group’s magnetic “tragic heroine,” Gloria, Ed begins to wonder whether this unexpected rediscovery is a genuine second chance or an intoxicating illusion. Based on Arthur Schnitzler’s novella, Late Fame is a wistful, clear-eyed drama about art, aging, and the seductions of recognition.
