Please join us for one or both of these fiber workshops! Wet felting and macramé intertwine in these workshops to create a harmonious match between two contrasting textures: the clean, geometric lines of the macramé knots and the soft, organic form of the wool.
Parents and caregivers are invited to join with their children; however, no adult will be permitted without an accompanying child.
In this workshop students will learn foundational knots for macramé and transform them into decorative and functional fiber pieces, such as bracelets, key chains, and plant hangers. This is where the beads we made in Part One come into play! (If your child was unable to attend the first week, we will have extra beads available.) Our unique felted beads will turn our macramé pieces into multimedia masterpieces!
Fees: $25 per student per workshop. (10% discount for Catamount Arts members). We are committed to offering high quality arts experiences for all students, regardless of ability to pay. Loraleh Harris has been a teaching artist for more than 25 years. She is a fiber artist, specializing in batik and shibori with natural fibers, and owner of an art gallery. A lifelong working artist, she continues to create and teach art whenever the opportunity arises. Her home is in Calais, situated amongst the maples, in a 165 square foot tiny house with her dog Ellis.
