Please join us for one or both of these fiber workshops! Wet felting and macramé intertwine in these workshops to create a harmonious match between two contrasting textures: the clean, geometric lines of the macramé knots and the soft, organic form of the wool.
Parents and caregivers are invited to join with their children; however, no adult will be permitted without an accompanying child.
In this workshop young artists will explore the magic of wet felting wool beads as they transition through three distinct phases: the loose phase (fluffy and fragile), the medium phase (squishy but holding shape) and the hard phase (dense, rock-like, and durable). Using wool, water, and soap, we will mold round balls to create one-of-a-kind beads to use in our macramé projects the following week.
Fees: $25 per student per workshop. (10% discount for Catamount Arts members). We are committed to offering high quality arts experiences for all students, regardless of ability to pay. Loraleh Harris has been a teaching artist for more than 25 years. She is a fiber artist, specializing in batik and shibori with natural fibers, and owner of an art gallery. A lifelong working artist, she continues to create and teach art whenever the opportunity arises. Her home is in Calais, situated amongst the maples, in a 165 square foot tiny house with her dog Ellis.
