Upstream Classical opens their inaugural season at York Street Meeting House with a concert featuring bassoonist Scott Pool (Corpus Christi) and EK Duo, a creative project of longtime Clogs’ bandmates, bassoonist Rachael Elliott (Lyndon) and percussionist Thomas Kozumplik (Brooklyn).
Two Bassoons and Percussion: an unlikely combo, you say?!? This unusual collaboration began a few years ago when EK Duo was touring across Texas and Louisiana. Scott Pool joined EK Duo on stage for their performance at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi (where Dr. Pool is also a faculty member) and played with such enthusiasm and flair that we knew future collaborations would follow. Scott, who is Academy Director of the Talis Music Festival & Academy in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and who has appeared throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia, also has a career goal of performing in all fifty U.S. states. The October 23 concert in Lyndon marks his first time performing in Vermont and will mark #40 in his quest.
Join us for this dynamic and eclectic program of classical & new music for solo bassoon, two bassoons, and two bassoons plus percussion. Experience passionate music-making seen (and heard) up close at York Street Meeting House, the Northeast Kingdom’s acoustic gem for live music!
Upstream Classical is a non profit organization based in Lyndon which is focused on supporting classical music, new music and community music, along with cross-disciplinary and collaborative arts projects in the Northeast Kingdom, and beyond.
