Catamount Arts is celebrating fall foliage weekend, October 10th and 11th, with train-themed programming and NEKASAN’s annual International Food Festival.

Celebrate the Northeast Kingdom’s international community with the world’s favorite pastime: food! The NEK Asylum Seekers Assistance Network (NEKASAN) is hosting their fourth annual International Food Festival at Catamount Arts, on 115 Eastern Avenue, on Saturday, October 10th, from 11am to 1pm. Sample tapas and small bites from cuisines from around the world. Admission is by a suggested donation of $15 to benefit NEKASAN.

In honor of Fall for St. Johnsbury’s popular foliage train rides, Catamount Arts will host a model train display in the Catamount Arts Cabaret Room, downstairs, on Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th, from 10am to 3pm. Train enthusiast Arlo Campbell will create the display.

Catamount Arts will also be screening two films that train enthusiasts won’t want to miss! One of silent film’s greatest comedies, “The General,” will screen free of charge, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The movie is set in the American Civil War and follows railroad engineer Johnnie Gray as he pursues Union spies who have stolen his beloved locomotive, not to mention his sweetheart, Annabelle Lee. Buster Keaton combines ingenious physical comedy, daring stunts, and a spectacular locomotive pursuit in a landmark adventure that remains thrilling and funny a century after its release. “The General” is appropriate for all ages.

“Stop! That! Train!,” rated R, will also screen all weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, at regular movie ticket prices. From the producers of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and the director of “Hairspray” comes a wildly camp disaster comedy inspired by classic spoofs. When a catastrophic Stormaganza threatens to derail the runaway Glamazonian Express, two determined train stewardesses join forces with President Gagwell to save the day!
