Eric Aho: Toward a Bright Opening

Catamount Arts is pleased to announce Eric Aho: Toward A Bright Opening, an exhibition of representational and abstract landscape paintings by internationally recognized artist Eric Aho. Thanks to the support of collectors Gail and Ernst von Metzsch and the NEK Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation, the exhibition will be on view from Wednesday, July 20 through Monday, October 10, 2016. Events and gallery talks in conjunction with Lyndon State College and St. Johnsbury Academy will occur throughout the month of September.

Elsa Dorfman - No Hair Day

Catamount Arts is pleased to announce the opening of Elsa Dorfman: The Big Picture (Family and Friends), an exhibition of 20 x 24 inch Color Polaroid prints by acclaimed portrait photographer Elsa Dorfman. Co-hosted by the St. Johnsbury Business and Professional Women’s Association, the show opens on Thursday, March 10 from 5:30-7 pm. Refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to attend.

Winfred Rembert: All Me

Catamount Arts is pleased to announce the opening of Winfred Rembert: An Artful Response, an exhibition of prints and paintings on tooled and carved leather by self-taught African American artist Winfred Rembert. The show will open on Sunday, January 31 with a 1:30 pm screening of the documentary film Winfred Rembert: All Me, followed by a reception in the gallery where refreshments will be served. The screening and reception are free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.

Our Domestic Resurrection Circus

Catamount Arts is pleased to announce the opening of Our Domestic Resurrection Circus, an exhibit of selected work from the Bread and Puppet Theater Museum in Glover, Vermont. On view in Catamount Art’s Main Gallery from July 2-August 2, 2015, the exhibition explores the rich complexity of artist Peter Schuman’s vision, which combines avant-garde sensibility with the older traditions of folkloric storytelling and medieval passion plays.

On view in the main gallery from May 15-June 21, 2015, the show documents the history of neighborhood movie houses as an anchor of social and economic life, making the exhibition a perfect fit for Catamount Arts as vital community showcase for art and film. An opening reception will be held for the artist on Friday, May 15 from 5:30-7 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Jon Imber – Curious Narrative

Catamount Arts is pleased to announce the opening of Jon Imber: Curious Narrative, an exhibition of paintings by the late Boston painter Jon Imber. On view in the main gallery from March 27-May 10, 2015, the show opened in conjunction with the Green Mountain Film Festival’s presentation of the documentary Imber’s Left Hand, which was created as part of the Maine Masters series by filmmaker Richard Kane. The film records the artist’s heroic struggle with ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Together the exhibition and film represent Catamount Art’s unique ability to integrate film and visual arts programming in ways that expand an understanding of both.
