Catamount Arts is pleased to host ArtsConnect@CatamountArts, its second annual juried show featuring 61 works by emerging and established member artists selected from more than 500 entries. 

Juror Andrea Rosen specializes in modern and contemporary American art and is now Curator at the Fleming Museum of Art at UVM in Burlington, Vermont, where she has curated the exhibitions Pop Art Prints and Samuel Bak: Survival and Memory.  Previously, she was at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, where she curated the major exhibition Under the Surface: Surrealist Photography.  Upcoming projects at the Fleming Museum include collaboration with co-curator Margaret Tamulonis on a new exhibition of work by graphic novelist Alison Bechdel. 

On Saturday, January 14 Catamount Arts welcomed more than two hundred artists and supporters at an opening reception and awards ceremony for its second annual juried show Arts Connect at Catamount Arts.  Juror and Fleming Museum Curator Andrea Rosen and former Catamount Board Member Robert Manning, whose work in support of the gallery has been honored with an endowed prize, were both on hand to congratulate the prize-winning artists as follows: 

Recipient of the $500 Robert Manning First Prize was Warren, Vermont painter Nancy Taplin.  Boston area artists Steve Edson and Lisa Gabrielle Russell won the $250 Second Prize and $100 Third Prize, respectively.  Artists Lian Brehm (Walden, VT), Robyn Craxton Lindquist (Whitefield, NH, Kata Hull (Manchester, MA), Terry Jenoure (Greenfield, MA), Susan Larkin (Isle La Motte, VT), Rosie Prevost (St. Johnsbury, VT), Anne Sargent Walker (Newton, MA and Norwich, VT), and Julia Talcott (Newton, MA and Waterbury, VT) all received honorable mentions for their work.

ArtsConnect@CatamountArts Juried Show Exhibition received generous corporate support from Burke Mountain HotelComfort Inn and Suites near Burke Mountain and the Kingdom Taproom.  Special thanks to Vermont’s Food Network star kid baker Peggy Fischer for the custom-made cupcakes she supplied for the opening reception.

The Fried Family Gallery at Catamount Arts

The Fried Family Gallery at Catamount Arts is dedicated to an exploration of contemporary art in curated exhibitions that both challenge and delight viewers. Each year the gallery presents work by member artists in a juried show Arts Connect at Catamount Arts, as well as an exhibition related to the Vermont Animation Festival.

Gallery hours: Monday-Saturday: 10 am to 6 pm, Sunday: Closed
