Founded in 1892, the SOFIA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA is today the national orchestra of Bulgaria and has long established itself as one of the country’s leading cultural institutions, representative of the overall contemporary musical culture. The orchestra’s high artistic achievement has distinguished it in concerts performed in the major musical centers across Europe (Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg, Netherland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Turkey, France, Croatia, Switzerland); Asia (China, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan); and North America, earning high acclaim from even the most demanding of audiences. Since 2017, the general director of the Sofia Philharmonic is maestro Nayden Todorov.

“Bulgaria’s leading orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic, is reaching new artistic heights under its music director, Nayden Todorov. [T]he Sofia Philharmonic…has established itself as Bulgaria’s most illustrious musical institution.”

“The Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra’s work is of consistent high quality. The string sound was clean and bright, ensemble was pin-sharp, the timbre of every woodwind instrument was rich, the solos attractively phrased. The sound of the two horns was gorgeous in their many interventions. Under the attentive baton of Nayden Todorov, not a hair was out of place.”
– Bachtrack

The musical program will be announced by September 1st.
