With all three categories offered Animated, Live Action and Documentary this is your annual chance to view all the nominated shorts! A perennial hit with audiences around the country and the world, don’t miss this years selection of shorts.
Animated Shorts Program:
Butterfly (dir. Florence Miailhe): A visually distinct film created with animated oil paintings, telling the true story of Alfred Nakache, a Jewish swimmer who survived Auschwitz to compete in the 1948 Olympics.
The Girl Who Cried Pearls: A stop-motion, 20th-century fable about a starving girl in a gritty, poverty-stricken dockside world whose tears turn into pearls.
Retirement Plan (dir. Domhnall Gleeson): A 7-minute film focusing on a character named Ray and his fantasies about retirement.
The Three Sisters: A 14-minute, melancholy story about three sisters living in isolation on an island.
Éiru: A 13-minute film following a child descending into the earth to retrieve water.
