The Vermont Institute of Celtic Arts actively preserves and promotes Celtic culture, language, art, dance, and music by offering instruction in traditional Celtic disciplines, preserving significant material, and strengthening the prominence of Celtic culture within our society. The school is the only year round institution of its kind in New England.
It is our goal to promote Celtic culture in Vermont through the arts: Pipes, Celtic Harp, Fiddle, Highland Dance, Irish and Cape Breton Step Dancing, Highland Drumming, and Gaelic Song.
Our instructors have, collectively, over 45 years of teaching experience with solo players and pipe bands. They have traveled throughout North America and Scotland as competitors, teachers, and workshop leaders. VICA director, Iain MacHarg, holds a Masters in education, a Senior certificate, and the Teaching certificate from the Institute of Piping in Scotland.
