Capping an exceptionally successful 2009, which includes the first Grammy nominations of her career for her album 'Middle Cyclone' (Anti- Records), Neko Case will be performing a show on Friday, March 12 to benefit the Catamount Arts Center. 'Middle Cyclone' was the highest debuting independent release of 2009, bowing at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in March, as well as #1 on the Top Independent Albums chart. Amazon recently named it the best album of 2009 on its annual year-end list. From her early 'country noir' flavored releases Furnace Room Lullaby and Blacklisted, to the more recent Fox Confessor Brings the Flood and Middle Cyclone, Neko Case has established herself as one of the most interesting and arresting songwriters and vocalists to come out of North America. She has won a steadily growing cult audience for her smoky, rich vocals and the downcast beauty of her music. Neko Case will be backed by Paul Rigby and Kelly Hogan and joined by special guest Anais Mitchell in this intimate evening of music to support Catamount Arts in achieving its mission of enhancing the cultural climate of Northern Vermont and New Hampshire.

Location: Cabaret Room
Tickets: $7 public/$5 NSAI members

The local chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International will present an evening of original accoustic music that will feature country, pop, folk and even rock compositions. Hosted by John Heartson, the regional chapter co-ordinator for NSAI, the performance will feature the talents of local songwriters Eric Brinkerhoff, Michael Hahn, David Maguier, Don Sinclair with Jennifer Grossi and Steve Wright.
The Songwriters Round performance format was made famous at the legendary Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville and has now become a popular means of showcasing works of songwriters all over the world The idea behind the Songwriters Round is simple: four performers sit on stage at the same time and take turns to play. The performer is encouraged to chat a little about his or her work before s/he performs each song. After the song ends, the next performer would follow, and so on. Thus, round and round it goes, as original songs are performed in an environment that is more reminiscent of a chatty living room than a concert stage. The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) consists of a body of creative minds, including songwriters from all genres of music, professional and amateur, who are committed to protecting the rights and future of the profession of songwriting, and to educate, elevate, and celebrate the songwriter and to act as a unifying force within the music community and the community at large. Eric Brinkerhoff (Mr. "E") Mr. E performs Bluesy Americana Songs in a unique finger picking style influenced by Guy Van Duser, Mississippi John Hurt, and the Beatles, with lyrics that transport you right into the song. Born in Oregon, raised in Idaho, he followed the music across the USA, moving from town to town, including Austin, New Orleans and even Brooklyn. Eric now lives in Danville Vermont and owns Melody Hill Farm. Michael Hahn - Michael plays a tasty blend of rock, country, blues and reggae spiced with the authentic maple flavoring of a third-generation Vermonter. Michael majored in Arranging and Composition at the Berklee School of Music, has performed for decades with popular dance bands, and is the author of five books and hundreds of magazine articles. David Maguier - David has been playing music for most of his life. He started performing when he was only eight, and later spent years playing the bar scene in New England and Florida. Tiring of that, he took a long break and came back determined to write and play his own songs. For the last eight years, he has split his time between his home in northeastern Vermont and Nashville. He plays occasionally throughout New England, and he can be seen in Nashville at such venues as the Bluebird Café. Just like his travels back and forth between New England and Tennessee, David? music travels the roads between contemporary folk and country, with the large part of acoustic singer/songwriter thrown into the mix. Artists from James Taylor to Jonathan Edwards, David Wilcox to Richard Shindell and Beth Nielson Chapman to Brad Paisley have all had their impact on his style. David released his first, full length CD, "Lucky Dog," in 2009 and is busily working on new songs for his next CD Don Sinclair & Jennifer Grossi "Rather than decide what they want to be when they grow up, Don & Jenn make music in styles ranging from Joni to Jobim. Let them take you with guitar, flute and voice through Jazz, Country, Folk, Blues, Serious, Silly and many points between." Steve Wright- Growing up in the North East Kingdom, Steve Wright immersed himself in a small but enthusiastic bluegrass community writing songs, playing guitar, mandolin, bass and the five- string banjo. In the 1980’s Steve received national recognition, appearing with the group “Pickin’ Up Steam” on the Grand Ol’ Opry stage in Nashville, Tennessee. For the last fifteen years, he has been writing, performing, and recording with the acclaimed “Gopher Broke Bluegrass” band. His original material can be heard on their three CD’s. Steve is currently occupied in the pursuit of happiness, writing and performing with “The Bayley Hazen Boys”.

Donna wrote In Her Own Voice and performed the play in April of 2008, as a work in progress, while in her senior year of seminary at Andover Newton Theological School. She wanted to write a powerful and empowering play for all audiences about the women we may not see enough in Scripture and may not hear enough about from the pulpit- To portray these ancient mother’s and sister’s as real women who we can relate to in our lives today. Donna narrates between the scenes of the play as Sophia; the personification of Wisdom in the Bible. Sophia speaks directly to the audience to give back stories The play is in chronological order. In Act I we meet the women from the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible) and in Act II we meet the women in the New Testament Gospels. Donna changes character in front of the audience. There are no props or set changes; she transforms before the audiences eyes. In some scenes she plays both women and we see the scene from each woman’s point of view. Donna embodies these wonderful Biblical women with passion, humor, love and grace.
Donna Colletti Lowre was born in Boston and has lived across the US and in Europe. She has a BA from the University of Maryland in English and Theatre and was in the Masters Degree directing program at UNLV.
